Capernaum Care Lifestyle Facility Program (Non-Residential)
The Capernaum Care Lifestyle Facility is a center-based establishment providing temporary shelter to patients and their companions from outside Davao City. The facility serves as a haven for those needing accommodation while awaiting follow-up appointments and medical care at the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC).
Established in 2013 and operational since February 2014, the facility has served over 35,600 patients and companions between 2014 and December 2019. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the facility was temporarily closed from January to August 2020. It reopened in May 2021, providing shelter exclusively for companions of patients.
All clients of the Center receive daily healthy meals and food supplements. Hospital management refers patients and companions to the DFI Center Manager, a practice that the Foundation is committed to continuing and improving as needed.
SPMC has generously donated two lots for the facility and, through a Memorandum of Agreement, has committed to providing utilities, amenities, housekeeping services, social workers, and security personnel. The Foundation manages the facility's maintenance and operations. Policies and procedures are developed collaboratively by SPMC's designated authorities (Medical Social Welfare Section/Office) and the DMIRIE Foundation Board and staff for implementation.
